Agreement

These terms are between you and Design Buff LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company trading as Tulpa. By installing or using Tulpa you accept them.

The software

Tulpa is dictation software that runs on your own computer. We license it to you; we do not sell it. The licence is non-exclusive, non-transferable, and lasts through your free trial and then as long as your subscription. You may not resell it, rent it, or redistribute it, and you may not reverse engineer it except where the law says you may regardless of what a contract states.

Tulpa currently requires a Mac with Apple Silicon. Intel Macs, Windows and Linux are not supported yet.

Your words are yours

You keep every right in what you dictate and in the text Tulpa produces. We claim no licence over it, we do not use it to train any model, and in the ordinary case we never receive it at all.

Plans, trials and billing

  • Solo is $8 per month or $69 per year. Team is not available yet, and its price will be announced before it is.
  • Solo includes a 14-day free trial. No card is needed to begin.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Cancel any time and you keep access to the end of the period already paid for.
  • Words are unlimited on every plan. You are billed per seat, not per word.
  • Fees exclude tax, which we add where we are required to.
  • We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice by email. The new price applies from your next renewal.

Refunds

If Tulpa does not work for you, write to us within 30 days of a charge and we will refund it. We would rather do that than argue.

Teams and administrators

Tulpa Teams is not available yet; this section applies once it is. If you set Tulpa up for an organisation, you confirm you are entitled to do so on its behalf. An administrator chooses the organisation's posture, and that choice binds every seat under it, including people who join later.

If an administrator enables managed cleanup, transcript text is relayed to the model provider they selected. That provider's terms govern the text it receives, and we are not responsible for how they handle it. The Privacy Policy and Security pages set out the mechanics.

Acceptable use

Do not use Tulpa to break the law, to record people who have not consented where consent is required, to infringe anyone's rights, or to attack the service or the systems it depends on.

Availability

Once a speech model is downloaded, dictation runs locally and keeps working without us. Accounts, billing, downloads, updates and cloud cleanup depend on servers, and those can be unavailable. We do not promise a particular uptime on any plan.

Warranties and liability

Tulpa is provided as is. Speech recognition is imperfect and will sometimes get words wrong; check anything that matters before you rely on it. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

To the extent the law allows, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost profits or lost data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it arose. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Ending it

You may stop using Tulpa and cancel at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or fail to pay, and we will tell you why. Provisions on your content, liability and governing law survive.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, and the state and federal courts sitting in New Jersey have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be emailed to account holders at least 30 days before they take effect, and continuing to use Tulpa after that means you accept them.
